The title of our message today is: Jesus is the Only Mediator and Intercessor Between Man and God.

Mediation and intercession are common concepts in religious beliefs and practices worldwide. However, according to the Bible, Jesus Christ is the only mediator and intercessor of the new covenant, serving as the intermediary between humanity and God the Father. Today’s radio broadcast will explore the biblical perspective of Jesus’ unique role as mediator and intercessor before the Father. We will also compare this to other religious practices, such as Islam’s prayers to Muhammad and Catholicism’s veneration of Mary as an intercessor for Catholics.

Christians believe that those who do not accept Jesus as the sole mediator and intercessor are heretics. They think that by rejecting Jesus, such individuals have distorted the Word of God and turned away from the truth. This rejection is a betrayal of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the salvation of all people. Christians consider this rejection to be a spiritual sin akin to prostitution and a defiance of God. Some may also view it as an alignment with Satan, the Father of Rebellion.

We will examine critical scriptures, including Hebrews chapter 9 verse 15, Romans chapter 8 verse 34, First John chapter 2 verse 1, and Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25, to illuminate this biblical perspective.

The Uniqueness of Jesus Christ as the Mediator:

Hebrews chapter 9, verse 15: For this reason, Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so those called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Christ serves as the mediator of a new covenant, granting the chosen ones the promised eternal inheritance. His death is a ransom, freeing them from sins under the first covenant. The role of a mediator is to stand between two parties and help them reconcile and reach an agreement. In Christianity, Jesus serves as the bridge that connects humanity and God, making reconciliation possible through His sacrificial death on the cross. This verse highlights that Christ’s death acted as a ransom, liberating believers from sins under the first covenant and allowing them to obtain the promised eternal inheritance.

Christ never stops working for those who believe in Him.

Romans chapter 8, verse 34 emphasizes Jesus Christ’s significance as a mediator through His death and a constant intercessor in Heaven for all Christians.

Romans chapter 8, verse 34, reads:

Who, then, is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

This Bible verse emphasizes that Jesus continues to pray for believers. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made it possible for humans to be redeemed, and He now serves as God’s ongoing intercessor. No other person in history has held this extraordinary position. No known text in human history identifies any other person as the intermediary between God and humanity. Jesus passionately intercedes for us, seated in Heaven next to the Father.

Apart from Christianity, no other religion or cult can claim to have a divine origin that is validated and affirmed while also demonstrating that they have someone who sacrificed for the sins of all humanity, just like Jesus Christ did. Jesus played a significant role as the only mediator and now as an intercessor in Heaven for those who belong to Him.

The Scripture in First John, chapter 2, verse 1, emphasizes the belief in Jesus being the only intercessor. The verse reads, “My dear children, I am writing this to you so you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the truly righteous one.”

Jesus Christ continuously advocates for believers before the Father in Heaven.

This guarantees forgiveness for believers and access to God’s mercy and grace.

Compared to other religious practices,

While Catholicism values Mary, praying to her as an intercessor contradicts biblical teachings. The Bible recognizes Jesus Christ as the sole mediator and intercessor. Mary’s alleged intercessory power lacks biblical evidence, rendering the Catholic religion false. Catholics must come to Christ, repent, and believe in Him alone. Jesus Christ, as the sole intercessor before God, has never indicated a need for assistance.

Islam emphasizes Muhammad’s intercessory role, while the biblical perspective asserts Jesus as the sole mediator. Islam lacks scriptural evidence for Muhammad’s intercession and his ability to sit next to God in Heaven, making it a false religion. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, the mediator and intercessor of humanity. Muslims must come to Christ and be saved.

The Warning Against Heresies:

Hebrews chapter 7, verse 25: He can save those who come to God through him because he always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews chapter 7, verse 25, strongly warns against turning from the biblical understanding of Christ’s unique role in God. Christ’s intercession for those who believe in Him is ongoing because He lives forever. Deviating from this truth, as seen in practices contrary to biblical teachings, can lead individuals away from the salvation offered through Christ alone.
The Bible consistently warns against false teachings that can lead people astray and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the truth revealed in Scripture.

Christianity is the only true religion, and Satan has created all other faiths to deceive and mislead people away from the truth. These religions introduce heresies that can confuse and weaken the beliefs of those who are not well-informed or lack theological knowledge.

Satan manipulates through religions and evil cults, leading souls astray and eventually to Hell.

For billions of people worldwide, Jesus Christ is not just a historical figure or a revered prophet but the foundation of their faith and the only mediator between humanity and God. Jesus negotiated a new covenant between humankind and God by sacrificing his life on the cross, offering a way for redemption and reunion with the Father.

First, Timothy, chapter 2, verse 5, declares That there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus.

Spiritual Prostitution: A Metaphor of Deviation

When followers of other religions neglect Jesus’ unique role as mediator, it becomes spiritual prostitution. Prostitution is a metaphor for betraying divine truths and abandoning biblical teachings. In this context, spiritual prostitution refers to seeking spiritual fulfillment outside the boundaries established by the Bible and faith in Christ alone, which is viewed as a betrayal of the divine covenant.

Engaging in Spiritual Treason

Many religions and faiths do not consider Jesus Christ as the only mediator, which is spiritual treason in the eyes of God. It is a conscious act of rebellion against God and His teachings to deviate from the fundamental truths of the Bible and align oneself with alternative beliefs. Such a departure from biblical doctrine is equivalent to siding with Satan in his rebellion against God.

Interfaith Dialogue and Understanding

The Bible is a unique and sacred book. According to Scripture, the Word of God is infallible, divinely inspired, and reflects His will. It doesn’t need any more editing or additions. The Bible contains direct messages from God, so paying close attention is crucial.

God doesn’t support interfaith dialogue or the understanding of other religions. However, this doesn’t mean that God is a dictator. He is the creator of all things and has a blueprint for how humans should relate to Him. As such, we must pay attention to His Word written in the Bible and accept His only Son, Jesus Christ, without hesitation, debate, or disagreement.

Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

This excerpt from the Book of Hebrews portrays God’s Word as a living, active force that can penetrate the human soul, discerning thoughts and intentions.
God confirms the Bible as his word that proceeds from his mouth in Isaiah chapter 55, verse 11.

Isaiah chapter 55, verse 11, reads:

So is my word that goes out of my mouth:
It will not return to me empty. But will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Second Timothy chapter 3, verses 16–17

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

“God-breathed” implies divine inspiration, unequivocally indicating that the Scriptures come directly from God. The text gains depth from its divine origin, representing spiritual and transformative abilities.

Jeremiah, chapter 23, verse 29

“Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”

Jeremiah uses vivid imagery to depict God’s powerful word. It is likened to fire and a hammer, suggesting its ability to purify and break down barriers.

Psalm chapter 119, verse 105

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

This verse’s imagery highlights God’s Word’s illuminating and guiding nature. It demonstrates the believer’s ongoing relevance and application.

These verses don’t explicitly say the Bible “penetrates human thoughts,” but they do emphasize its transformative power. Understanding the Bible as a living text that actively engages with individuals is a theological perspective many Christians hold, shaping their approach to the Scriptures and their relationship with God.
